Pacific Duo One-Hits Dons
STOCKTON, Calif. Todd Culp and Kyle Albers pitched a combined one-hitter to lead the Pacific baseball team (17-10) to a 10-1 victory over San Francisco (17-12) on Tuesday, Mar. 28,
at Billy Hebert Field.
Culp improved to 3-1 on the season as he allowed one run on one hit and seven walks over 7.1 innings while striking out nine Dons. He was perfect through three innings, before allowing a leadoff walk to Tony Hurtado in the fourth. Culp kept the Dons hitless until the eighth, when Dustin Delucchi hit a one-out single to right field. After walking the next batter, Culp was relieved by Albers, who pitched 1.2 innings of perfect relief and collected one strikeout. Pacific would score all the runs it would need in the first inning as Ryan Stowasser scored on a Peter Dunkle wild pitch and Richard Hackett plated Todd Bramble with a two-out single. The Tigers added four runs in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the sixth. Bramble led Pacific at the plate with a 3-for-5 effort including a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Hackett went 2-for-5 with two RBI. A total of five San Francisco pitchers saw action in the game and yielded eight earned runs on nine hits. The quintet recorded seven strikeouts while walking 10 Tiger batters. Dunkle (1-4) suffered the loss, going the first two innings and yielding six runs (four earned).
Pacific opens a three-game Big West Conference series at Cal Poly on Friday, Mar. 31, at 7 p.m.
