PORTLAND, Ore. -- San Francisco scored five runs in the final two innings Friday to post a 7-3 win over Portland in West Coast Conference baseball.

The Dons (20-14/6-7) scored twice in the eighth inning to erase a 3-2 Pilot lead, then added three runs in the top of the ninth with two outs. Ian Perio scattered nine hits over eight innings with four strikeouts, running his record to 6-2 - the best record in the WCC so far this season.

Trailing 3-2 in the eighth, USF's Jason Howard singled, advanced to second on a groundout and stole third. Rigo Lopez then doubled Howard home and moved to third on a groundout. Jared Carvalho then singled in Lopez.

In the ninth, Portland reliever Kyle Bebout got the first two USF batters to ground out, but gave up three straight hits to pinch hitter Nick Tarbat, Lopez and Foppert. Foppert's shallow single to right scored Tarbat from second, and Lopez scored when a throw to the plate got past Pilot catcher Cody Gardner. Foppert advanced to third when the throw skipped into the Portland dugout, and scored the final run on a passed ball.

Portland scored single runs in the first three innings, but stranded each of their five runners after the fourth.

Dustin Delucchi, Jason Howard, Rigo Lopez and Jared Carvalho each had two hits for USF, while Cory Lunde was 3-for-5 and Michael Stewart 2-for-4 for Portland.

Portland's Brian Graham dropped to 5-3 on the season, allowing nine hits and four runs with eight strikeouts over 7.2 innings. USF plays the Pilots Saturday in the second game of the three game set with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM at Pilot Stadium.
