Senior catcher Steve Booth was instrumental as the Dons swept Bay Area rival Saint Mary's College and earned West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. Booth hit .421 in four games, driving in nine runs with a double and three homeruns. The San Jose product made a tremendous statement in the series finale against Saint Mary's crushing three homeruns on three consecutive at-bats en route to a 4-for-6 day to go along with seven RBI in the contest. (The three homeuns were the most hit in a single game by a Don since former All-American Taggert Bozied powered four off four different pitchers in a contest against Sonoma State, 2/23/99.) In addition, the 2002 Johnny Bench Award Candidate played excellent defense throwing out two base runners in game two.
