USF Baseball Celebrates 2007 Season with Its Annual Banquet

(San Francisco) - USF baseball hosted it annual banquet celebrating the accomplishments of the 2007 season Sunday night at the Carnelian Room atop the Bank of America Building in downtown San Francisco. More than 150 people joined the Diamond Dons in celebrating the accomplishments during the 100th anniversary season.

San Francisco honored the enormous contributions of its nine-member senior class - Chris Bacigalupi, Lucas DeLong, Jason Dufloth, Jonnie Knoble, Daniel Morales, Blake Nelson, Jonathan Norfolk, John Quine and Cole Stipovich. Each senior received customized bats from the Cooperstown Bat Company.

Each member of the team was introduced by the USF coaching staff and all seniors were recognized for their contributions during the most successful four-year run in program history, including the first West Coast Conference Championship and the first NCAA Regional berth in school history last season.

USF head coach Nino Giarratano, the WCC's Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006, shared his reflections on the team and its accomplishments and how they have set the standard for the following classes. A highlight video was shown at the end presenting the best of the 2007 campaign.

On a team with so many selfless student-athletes with virtually everyone on the roster making major contributions throughout the course of the record breaking season, it was a daunting task selecting the individual honors as voted on by the team and are listed below.

Senior outfielder Jonnie Knoble captured team MVP honors and the Yellow Dog Award, presented to the top newcomer, was renamed the Jonnie Knoble Award.
