June 18, 2002

A pair of 2002 USF Diamond Don alums agreed to terms and signed professional contracts. Catcher Steve Booth, a ninth round selection by the Cincinnati Reds and right-handed pitcher Peter Dunkle signed a non-drafted free agent contract with the Colorado Rockies. Terms were not disclosed.

Booth, a 2002 All-West Coast Conference First Team selection after powering 19 homeruns and 68 RBI during his stellar senior year, will play rookie ball for the Billings Mustangs (A) of the Pioneer League. Dunkle, who completed his four-year career as the Dons all-time appearance leader and ranked third in career victories on the Hilltop, will play rookie ball with the Tri-City Dust Devils (A) of the Northwest League in Kennewick, WA.
