Anwar McQueen
Position: Assistant Coach
College: California, '97

Anwar McQueen has just completed his third season as an assistant coach for the Dons, where he is responsible for scouting, recruiting, monitoring NCAA compliance issues and supervising the academic progress of team members. He also works on the development of the team's point guards. A native of Washington, DC, McQueen attended the prestigious St. Albans School for Boys before going on to an outstanding collegiate playing career at California from 1994 through 1997.

A standout point guard for the Bears, McQueen's teammates included the New Jersey Nets' Jason Kidd. During those years, McQueen and his team made it to the NCAA Tournament three times.

In 1997, McQueen recorded 52 steals, placing him sixth on Cal's single season list. He's also on the record books for a 4-for-4 3-point shooting achievement in a game against Howard on December 28, 1996.

At Cal, the 6-1 guard was also recognized for his feats off the court. In 1994, his first year as a collegiate student-athlete, McQueen won the Best Academic Effort award. In both 1996 and 1997, he was given the Coaches' Award. After graduating with a degree in Sociology, McQueen went on to play professionally in Europe before taking part in the 1998 Portland Trailblazers mini camp. He returned to the Bay Area to serve as head coach of Redwood High School's varsity men's basketball team, a position he held for two seasons.

He is currently pursuing a Master's in Sports and Fitness Administration at USF and resides in San Francisco.
