USF paced by 23 points and 10 rebounds by Darrell Tucker and a career high 22 points by John Cox controlled the game throughout in defeating San Diego 87-71 to win their eighth game in eleven tries.

The Dons took an early 15-3 lead after five minutes of play and never trailed, balooning to a 42-27 halftime margin, their largest of the season. Center Hondre Brewer controled play in the first stanza with 12 points and four blocked shots.

The win enabled USF, who once held a 2-7 mark to even its record at 10-10Hondre Brewer added 16 points, Tayo Akinsete 13 and LyRyan Russell had 7 assists and just one turnover.

USF (10-10, 5-2) outshot the Toreros (11-9, 3-4 WCC) 46% to 39% and made 8 of 16 three-pointers, five by John Cox, who was a perfect five for five.

The Dons host Santa Clara Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
