(AP) Yakhouba Diawara had 22 points with 11 rebounds and was one of four players to score in double figures as Pepperdine defeated San Francisco 85-68 on Thursday night.

Alex Acker had 16 points, Glen McGowan with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Kingsley Costain added 13 as Pepperdine (13-10,3-5 West Coast) snapped a five game losing streak.

San Francisco (13-8, 4-4) lost its first home game and are 10-1 at Memorial Gym. John Cox scored 24 points for the Dons who have lost two straight.

Pepperdine went on an 11-0 run from the end of the first half to the 16:47 mark of the second when Tyrone Riley scored to end the drought for San Francisco.

The Waves started the second half with a 12-2 run to take a 13 point lead with 14:45 remaining including two 3-pointers by Kingsley Costain.

San Francisco committed costly turnovers as Pepperdine continued to increase their lead with an assortment of 3-pointers and dunks.

The Dons were outhustled in the paint and outrebounded. The best that San Francisco could do was manage a 7-0 run in the second half to cut the defecit to nine points.

The Waves quickly responded on a 12-0 run taking a 21 point lead with six and a half minutes to go.

Entering play today, all schools in the West Coast Conference have a winning record. The only other conferences in which all its institutions are .500 or better is the Atlantic Coast and the Big-12.

San Francisco used an 8-0 run to take a 12-4 lead. Pepperdine answered with a 17-7 run to lead 21-19 with 8:52 to play in the first half. The game was close for the remainder of the half. The Waves scored the final five points of the half to take a 38-35 score into the locker room.

USF hosts Loyola Marymount Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
