St. Mary's Outlasts USF 69-63 in front of 5,137

Guard Paul Maginey scored 25 points and Daniel Kickert added 17 as the St. Mary's Gaels took a late lead and held off host USF 69-63. St. Mary's swept two games from USF in three days to improve to 14-9, 5-3 in the West Coast Conference, while USF dropped to 14-11, 4-5 in league play.
USF was paced by 15 points by Andre Hazel and 13 by Dommanic Ingerson, both players coming off the bench.
It was a see-saw battle, with 48 fouls being whistled. The Gaels led early, but USF rallied to take a 43-31 halftime lead. With St. Mary's leading by one with 3:41 remaining Frederick Adjiwanou hit three straight free-throws followed by a Kickert basket to take a 61-55 cushion. Usf could not get any closer than three points the rest of the way.
It was USF's first loss at Memorial Gymnasium this year, the Dons entering the game 8-0 at home. USF has four WCC home game remaining, including Thursday's matchup with Gonzaga and just one more road contest.
