Dons Take Portland 86-73 Behind Career Best of 22 Points By Riley and Gumbs

Tyrone Riley and Jerome Gumbs each scored career bests of 22 points to lead USF to a 86-73 victory over Portland Saturday night at War Memorial Gymnasium. The Dons took the lead with 7:20 remaining in the first half and built it to as much as 13 in taking their 15th win of the season.
The win snapped a three-game USF losing streak and moves the Dons (15-12, 5-6 WCC) into a tie for fourth place in the West Coast Conference.
Gumbs was a perfect 7-7 from the floor and pulled 11 rebounds while Riley was 8-13 floor and also pulled 11 boards. The Pilots were paced by 17 points by Dustin Geddis and 15 by Adam Quick. USF outrebounded the Pilots 40-34 and outshot them 54% to 40%. USF is now 11-0 in games in which they score 70 points.
James Bayless (13 points) and Andre Hazel (10) were also in double figures for USF.
USF concludes WCC play with a game next Saturday at San Diego and hosts Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine the following week.
