It was a record-breaking night for USF as they broke ahead early (28-5) and behind career highs of 34 for Darrell Tucker and Shamell Stallworth (24) easily defeated Portland to end their regular season.

The Dons finish regular season play with a 8-6 record, tied for third with Santa Clara, and a 13-14 mark overall. USF will face host San Diego, the number five seed in the first round after the Broncos won a coin flip enabling them to play sixth place St. Mary's in the first round. It will be the third straight season that USF has faced the host school in the postseason tournament.

USF set a school record in the game,m nailing 17 three-pointers (in 30 attempts) a 56% form behind the arc. The Dons scored the most points this season. Portland was paced by Casey Frandsen, who scored 30 points, but the Pilots, who face Pepperdine in the WCC dropped to 2-12, 6-23 overall.

USF forward Darrell Tucker was 10-18 from the floor and made all nine of his free-throws, plus 5-9 from three-point range. He recorded his 17th double-double of the year, 11 in 14 WCC games. He also won the WCC rebounding title.

John Cox added 10 points and Hondre Brewer added 9 (plus five blocks).
