MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - John Cox scored 23 points as San Francisco beat Pepperdine 90-82 Saturday night.

The Dons (14-13, 9-5 West Coast Conference) led by as many as 12 and never trailed in the second half.

The Waves (15-12, 7-7) came within five, 65-60, with 10:17 remaining before the Dons scored the next five points to take a 70-60 lead with nine minutes remaining.

Pepperdine went on an 8-2 run late in the game to make the score 78-74 with four minutes left, but that would be as close as the Waves would get.

Pepperdine was led by Terrence Johnson who scored 24 points. Alex Acker scored 14 and Jimmy Miggins added 13 points for the Waves, who will be the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
