(Santa Barbara) - USF's Dior Lowhorn continued to impress with a 21 point night on the road at UC Santa Barbara, but the Gauchos held off the Dons 74-69 in a non-conference battle Tuesday night at the Thunderdome. Alex Harris scored seven of his 27 points in the final four minutes to lift UCSB, while Chris Devine added 18 points, including four straight free throws in the final 31 seconds, for the Gauchos (4-1). The Dons (2-2), led by Lowhorn's 12 second-half points, reduced a 13-point deficit to just four points, 57-53, with six minutes to go. It was the second consecutive 20-plus scoring night for Lowhorn, who poured in a career-high 30 last Saturday against Sacramento State. But Harris and Devine scored 14 of UCSB's last 15 points to keep USF from getting any closer. The Gauchos outshot the Dons 49 percent to 45.8, with Harris making 4-of-7 shots from the 3-point line. Freshman guard Myron Strong scored 14 points with three assists and three steals off the bench for San Francisco. Senior guard Danny Cavic added 13 points and converted on 3-of-6 from 3-point range to go along with a season-high nine rebounds for the Dons. USF held a 33-31 rebound advantage, including a commanding 15-11 edge on the offensive glass. Never a thing of beauty, the two teams combined for 45 turnovers - 23 by the Gauchos. San Francisco returns to action when it travels to Eugene for a Saturday non-conference contest at No. 11 Oregon. Tip-off against the Ducks is set for 7:00 PM at McArthur Court.
