Box Score

Sophomore center Sean Paul scored 21 points and Andre Hazel added 16 to pace the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 84-59 nonconference victory over USF Wednesday night at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno.

After USF (1-3) took a 2-0 lead on a basket by Darrell Tucker, USF's leading scorer with 22 points, Nevada (3-1) scored two straight baskets by 6-9 center Sean Paul and never trailed again. USF point guard LyRyan Russell was the only other Don in double figures with 10 points, and added 4 assists.

USF was ice-cold on offense for the second consecutive game, and lost its second straight game by 20 points. The Dons, who made just 5 of 25 shots from three point range in its 69-49 loss to Santa Barbara, shot worse tonight making just three of 22. Overall from the floor, USF was 18 of 54 (33%) while Nevada made 27-57. The Dons made just 20-30 free-throws to 27-34 for the host Wolf Pack. USF was outrebounded 47-29.

Hondre Brewer blocked two shots in the game to become the WCC's all-time career blocks leader with 206, surpassing Gonzaga's Casey Calvary (205). He is already the Bay Area's all-time blocks leader.

Things get no easier as USF has a difficult schedule ahead with Xavier coming in for the annual Northwestern Mutual Mayor's Game on Saturday followed by a nationally televised game at #25 Fresno State next Tuesday.

The Dons trailed by nine points, 34-25 at the half. The Dons trailed 10-4, 18-10 and 24-16 before a 7-0 run brought USF to within 24-23. Nevada closed the half on a 10-2 scoring streak. USF's offense again started slowly as USF made just 4 of its first 15 shots, all of those by Tucker, and wound up just making 9 of 29 shots (31%) for the half. The host Wolf Pack made 11 of 25 first half shots. Nevada also took advantage of free-throws making 11 of 16 to just 5 of 7 for USF before intermission.
