SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Romain Sato scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Xavier past San Francisco 87-72 in the Northwestern Mutual Mayor's game on Saturday night.

David West finished with 20 points and Dave Young added 19 points for the Musketeers (3-1), who outrebounded San Francisco 39-26.

San Francisco (1-4) opened the second half on a 6-3 spurt that cut Xavier's lead to 54-42.

But the Musketeers, who have won two straight, answered by scoring 12 of the next 14 points to extend their advantage to 64-44 with 14:14 remaining.

Darrell Tucker's 21 points led the Dons, who shot 47 percent from the floor. John Cox contributed 14 points.

Xavier jumped out to a 14-2 lead after West hit a 3-pointer with 15:30 in the first half. San Francisco cut the margin to five in the next three minutes, but Sato knocked down one of his five 3-pointers in the game, giving the Musketeers a 20-12 advantage.

The Musketeers, who connected on 8-of-17 from 3-point range in the first half, closed the half by going on a 18-8 run in the last 3:50 that put them ahead 51-36.

Xavier outrebounded the Dons 22-9 in the first 20 minutes.
