Dec. 20, 2004 Johnny Dukes came off the bench to pace four USF players in double figures with 16 points as the University of Men's Basketball team won its sixth straight, 79-58 over Montana Monday night at War Memorial Gymnasium. USF (7-3) took control of the game early breaking a 10-10 tie by going on a 14-2 run to take a 24-12 lead with 11:15 remaining. The Dons extended it to a 79-58 halftime lead on the way to a 21 point victory. John Cox scored 15 points for USF, Jerome Gumbs 14 and Tyrone Riley 12 as the Dons shot 49.2% from the floor and made 8-21 three-pointers. Montana (4-6) was paced by 20 point by John Seyfert, who made 8 of his 13 shots. Both teams played without one starter dressed with Montana's Kamarr Davis and USF's Andre Hazel both on the bench in street clothes. The six game winning streak is the biggest for USF since they won 12 straight after dropping the opener in 1999-2000. USF led 46-29 at the half by dominating the turnover statistic, forcing 13 Montana turnovers to just 2 for USF as both teams shot 52% from the floor. Jerome Gumbs scored USF's first ten points of the contest, taking the Dons from a 0-6 deficit a 10-6 lead. USF hosts 6-1 Fresno State Thursday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
