Shamell Stallworth scored a career high 37 points to pace USF to a 82-74 victory over Brigham Young Monday night at War Memorial Gymnasium. The Dons took a 46-27 halftime lead and fought off a second half BYU win to record the victory.

The Dons (3-6) won their second straight game by overpowering the Cougars (8-2) in the first half, shooting 60.7 percent before intermission. But the Cougars fought back to within 55-52 with 9:47 left. But Stallworth stepped up and hit a three-pointer and two free-throws to get the lead back to seven and later scored four consecutive Dons buckets to get USF ahead 69-60.

Stallworthg passed his career high of 28 that he scored in last year's WCC tournament. John Cox (11) and Darrell Tucker (10) also scored in double figures as USF shot 50.9% for the night.

BYU was paced by 24 points by center Rafael Araujo and 13 by Travis Hansen.
