SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Darrell Tucker scored 20 points to lead the University of San Francisco past Loyola Marymount, 83-66, in West Coast Conference action Friday night.

Kenyon Jones and Ali Thomas added 13 points apiece for the Dons, who won for the first time since seeing their 12-game winning streak snapped on Jan. 13 in the WCC opener. San Francisco (13-3, 1-2 in the WCC) had 12 wins total last season.

Stanley Thorne scored 18 points and Curtis Slaughter had 17 to pace Loyola Marymount (2-14, 0-3), which suffered its 13th consecutive road loss.

Tucker scored 14 of his points in the first half but it was a pair of 3-pointers from Shammell Stallworth that got the Dons going early. San Francisco held a three-point lead before going on a 21-2 run that blew the game open, with Stallworth scoring six of his eight points in the stretch.

The Dons shot better than 68 percent from the floor in the first half which helped offset their 28.1 percentage in the second half. San Francisco also controlled the boards with a 45-32 advantage.

Loyola Marymount trailed 51-31 at halftime and fell behind by as many as 23 points in the second half before pulling to within 13 at 72-59.

USF staved off the charge, however, and closed out the game by making eight of 12 free throws down the stretch.
