SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Nathan Fast scored a season-high 24 points, 16 in the second half, and Brian Jones had 22 in leading Santa Clara to an 86-83 win over San Francisco on Wednesday. San Francisco (17-7) missed several chances to win the game in the final seconds. Darrell Teat and Jamie Holmes each added 10 points for the Broncos (16-10), who won their sixth in the last eight games and took over sole possession of third place in the West Coast Conference. Darrell Tucker scored a career-high 22 points to lead San Francisco. Kenyon Jones had 18 and James Lee added 17 for the Dons. Santa Clara was trailing early in the second half, but closed to within two points. San Francisco then rebuilt its margin, taking a 64-54 edge after Tucker made one of two free throws with 10:14 remaining. Fast then scored six straight points over the next minute to make the score 64-60. The Dons maintained their edge until Fast struck again, scoring six unanswered points to spark an 14-3 run. That put the Broncos up, 78-73, with 4:25 left. Jones connected on a pair of 3-pointers during the run. USF played without the services of point guard Chris Barideaux (ill) and forward Russell Hinder (back).
Santa Clara scored the game's first 11 points, but San Francisco came
