Hernandez Named to WCC Winter All-Academic Team
Feb. 25, 2009
(San Bruno, CA) - Christian Hernandez (San Juan Capistrano, CA) of the USF men's basketball team has been named to the 2009 West Coast Conference Winter All-Academic Team. This is the second consecutive appearance on the WCC Winter All-Academic team for the USF junior.
Hernandez, a guard for the USF Dons' men's basketball team, is currently majoring in Finance with a GPA of 3.76. Hernandez has both exceeded the minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average requirement of the honor while being a significant contributor to his team.
Hernandez, who has seen playing time in 25 games this season, earned the highest GPA of any of the other nine selected to the team. In addition, the junior was one of just two to earn the accolade for the second time.
The USF women's basketball team did not have a member selected for the women's all-academic honor.
At the end of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. The West Coast Conference Winter All-Academic team consists of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete.
