(San Francisco) - USF sophomore forward Dior Lowhorn capped a sensational first campaign in the Green and Gold with selection to the 2008 West Coast Conference First Team, as announced by the league office today. Lowhorn led the conference in scoring during league contests, averaging 20.5 points per game, connecting on .532 (116-218) from the field - good for seventh place among conference leaders. In addition, Lowhorn ranked fifth in rebounds (7.5), seventh in free throw percentage (.729) and was eighth in blocked shots (0.93).

Lowhorn is the first Don to pace the WCC in scoring since John Cox averaged 19.9 points per game in league contests during his standout senior campaign in 2005. Lowhorn ranks No. 29 among Division I scoring leaders, as of March 2. With 600 points this season, Lowhorn shares ninth place on the single-season scoring list with Don All-American Bill Cartwright who reached 600 as a sophomore in 1976-77. Pete Cross holds eighth place on the list with 615 (24.6) in 1968-69, while Cox is seventh at 621 (20.0) in 2004-05.

For the season, the Texas Tech transfer enters this week's WCC Tournament as the conference's leading scorer, averaging 20.7 points on .512 (238-465) from the field - good for sixth place among league leaders. Lowhorn rates fourth in overall rebounds (7.5), third in offensive rebounds (2.9) and is ninth in blocked shots (0.90).

A Bay Area native, Lowhorn averaged 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game as a freshman for the Red Raiders in 2005-06. A decorated prep player, Lowhorn was named NorCal Player of the Year and also captured "Bay Area Player of the Year" honors from the Oakland Tribune and the San Francisco Chronicle following his senior campaign at Berkeley High School.

Lowhorn opened his career in the Green and Gold with a flourish, scoring 26 points at Oklahoma (11/8/07) in his Dons debut and then turned in his first USF double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds against East Central (11/9/07). Lowhorn poured in a career-high 30 points in his home debut against Sacramento State (11/17/07) en route to West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. Lowhorn scored 29 points with seven rebounds at No. 12 Oregon (11/24/07) in his third straight 20-plus point outing.

Lowhorn has scored at least 20 points in 17 of 29 games this season and has registered 19 points six times. On the year, Lowhorn turned in a team-high five double doubles, including back-to-back double-dips to conclude the regular season. Lowhorn turned in a 23-point, 11 board effort against Loyola Marymount and then added 22 points and 12 rebounds in the finale against Pepperdine.

San Francisco opens play in the 2008 WCC Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 8 seed Loyola Marymount Friday, March 7. Tip-off time against the Lions is set for 6:00 PM at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
