Geremy Uhl, Kevin Long & Kyle Schlumpf Receive Awards At Men's Soccer Banquet

March 9, 2006

Junior goalkeeper Geremy Uhl was named MVP, junior defender Kevin Long was presented with the Gus Donoghue Award and Kyle Schlumpf was named winner of the Stephen Negoesco Award at the annual USF Men's Soccer Banquet that was held Thursday night at the Carnelian Roon in downtown San Francisco.

Fittingly enough the Dons' defense dominated the awards, as they were a key in the Dons capturing their second straight WCC title.

Uhl, from Cypress, Calif., was again stellar in the goal for USF as they won the West Coast Conference crown for the second consecutive season. He won the Joe Allen Award as the team's MVP by recording a 11-5-4 mark in goal and allowing just 16 goals in 20 contests. He had a 0.77 goals against average and nine shutouts, five in WCC play where he only allowed 11 goals in 12 games.

Schlumpf, was named winner of the Stephen Negoesco Award for best contribution by an underclassman. The freshman from Pleasanton, Calif played in 14 games in his first year, starting 10 in the defense.

Kevin Long, a junior defender from Irvine was named winner of the Gus Donoghue Award, for excellence on the field and off. Long was a team leader for USF all season.
