Alan Wiggins, Jr. Named Father William Dunne Award Winner as Team MVP at Annual Basketball Banquet

San Francisco, CA (March 9, 2007) - All-West Coast Conference senior forward Alan Wiggins, Jr. (San Diego, Calif.), was presented with the Father William Dunne Award as the Dons' Most Valuable Player at the team's annual awards banquet Friday night at the Carnelian Room in downtown San Francisco.
Wiggins also received the "6th Man Club's Captain's Award," while senior guard Armondo Surratt (Oakland, Calif.) was given the Bob Giron Coaches Award. The Art Zief, Jr. Most Inspirational Award was presented to junior forward Danny Cavic (Tustin, Calif.) while senior forward Johnny Dukes (Rialto, Calif.) was named the Most Improved Player. Sophomore guard Antonio Kellogg (Oakland, Calif.) was awarded the Team's Top Defensive Player Award.
Wiggins averaged 14.6 points per game and finished ninth in the league in scoring, sixth in rebounding at 7.2, sixth in field goal percentage (52.2%), eighth in free-throw percentage (73.7%)and averaged 1.5 blocks (fifth WCC) per game. His 1,103 points ranks 22nd on the USF career scoring list.
Also during the event seniors Wiggins, Dukes and Surratt were presented with senior watches.
