Senior point guard LyRyan Russell was named winner of four major awards, including Coca-Cola/USF Male Athlete of the Year at the annual USF Men's Basketball Banquet Tuesday night (April 9th) at the Carnelian Room in San Francisco. Junior All-WCC forward Darrell Tucker won the Fr. William Dunne, S.J. Award as USF's Most Valuable Player.

Russell was named winner of the Bob Giron "We Play Hard" Award, USF Defender of the Year and Arthur Zief, Jr. Award as the team's most inspirational player, while Tucker, who recorded a double-double in points and rebounds average, was named Fr. William Dunne, S.J. award winner as MVP. Freshman forward Jerome Gumbs was named Most Improved Player.
