University of San Francisco head basketball coach Philip Mathews today announced that former Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and Holland Hall High School star Brandon Queen has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of San Francisco this fall.

Queen averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds last year for the "Golden Norsemen" last season.

Queen is a player that should add scoring and rebounding to the Dons' frontline.

The signing of Queen gives the Dons five newcomers for next season.

USF lost senior center Hondre Brewer and forwards Tayo Akinsete and Eugene Brown to graduation. The bulk of recruiting went into replacing that frontline. USF signed 6-8 forward Mamdou Cissi (John Wood College) in the early period and added two transfers, 6-7 University of Nevada forward James Bayless and 6-6 University of New Mexico wing Alvin Broussard during the fall semester. Bayless and Broussard practiced with USF last season and will be eligible at the end of the USF 2002 Fall semester.

In addition, USF firmed up its backcourt earlier this week with the signing of former St. Mary's guard Jovan Harris. Harris was honorable mention all-WCC as a sophomore.
