Jeff Linder Promoted to USF Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach

June 19, 2009

(San Francisco) - Jeff Linder has been elevated to the associate head coach for the USF Men's Basketball program as announced today by head coach Rex Walters. A coaching veteran, Linder is a major contributor to every facet of Dons basketball and played a key role in landing a promising recruiting class for the 2009-10 season.

"I'm really happy for Jeff," Walters said. "He's been a big part of trying to take this program back to the place it belongs. He's the right hand man I turn to when it comes to recruiting, scouting and the day-to-day operations of our basketball program. He is someone that I trust. He has a great work ethic and is very, very smart when it comes to the game of basketball and beyond. I feel very lucky to have him and I'm excited that he's been elevated to associate head coach."

Linder welcomes the opportunity to continue building a winning program at the University of San Francisco.

"I'm very excited about the future of USF Basketball," Linder said. "The coaching staff and administration have worked really hard to create an environment that will allow us to attract the top student-athletes locally and around the world. Coach Walters has done an unbelievable job in a short period of time and I look forward to helping him achieve the lofty goals he has set for our student-athletes on the court and in the classroom."

Before coming to USF for the 2008-09 season under Walters, Linder helped Weber State post a two-year record of 36-26, as part of Randy Rahe's staff. The Wildcats captured the 2007 Big Sky regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Linder went to Ogden after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Midland (Texas) JC where he served under Coach Grant McCasland. Midland posted a record of 53-16 during his two-year stint. The 2005-06 squad posted a 26-10 overall record and made it to the "elite eight" at the national junior college tournament.

Before going to Midland, Linder spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Emporia State under David Moe, the son of legendary ABA and NBA coach Doug Moe. In his third season at Emporia, the team posted a 22-5 record and earned a number three seed in the NCAA Division II tournament.
