July 11, 2007

Former USF basketball star John Cox is playing this summer for his hometown Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Summer League. Cox has played as a professional for the past two seasons in France.

The son of former USF star and NBA player Chubby Cox has been encouraged by his cousin, Kobe Bryant to keep working to reach the next level. Bryant and Cox frequently work out together.

Cox, who played for USF from 1999-2005 is eighth on USF's all-time scoring list with 1540 points. His stellar play as a senior helped lead USF to the postseason NIT.

Cox, 26, averaged 14.4 points per game, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists for Le Havre of the French League last season. He is attending his first NBA camp.
