SAN FRANCISCO - After a short turnaround, the University of San Francisco men's basketball team is back in action at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 at War Memorial Gym.
USF (1-0) hosts Dominican University (0-0), a Division II school located in San Rafael. The contest will be the first-ever regular season matchup between the two schools.
Dominican, which opens its regular season against USF, finished with a 16-13 record last year. The Penguins beat Pacific Union College 90-75 in an exhibition game two weeks ago and lost to California Maritime Academy 72-70 in overtime last week.
Prepare to witness a fast-paced game. The Penguins like to push the ball and get into the open court. The team relies on the athleticism of its wings and their ability to beat defenders one-on-one.
Dominican brings a young lineup to town, starting three freshmen and a sophomore. The Penguins' roster is, however, filled with size with only one player under 6-foot. Five players stand 6-foot-5 or taller while weighing more then 200 pounds.
The Penguins feature Xander McNally, a redshirt sophomore that transferred from Division I Denver University after just one season.
