USF Men's Basketball Travels to Arizona State Friday

DONS TACKLE SUN DEVILS IN TEMPE: After opening the regular season with a 2-0 mark for the second straight season under head coach Rex Walters, USF takes to the road with its first test set for Friday at Arizona State. The Dons bounced Dominican 92-66 Monday at War Memorial Gym and dropped 50 on the Penguins in the second half. ASU is off to a 3-0 start, most recently a 52-49 victory against Texas Christian on Tuesday.
USF AGAINST THE PAC-10: USF plays its first of two Pac-10 opponents Friday when it takes on Arizona State at Wells Fargo Arena. San Francisco owns a 80-128 overall record against Pac-10 foes and owns winning records against three: Arizona (4-1), Arizona State (4-3) and Oregon State (7-3). Last year the Dons went 0-2 against the Pac-10, falling 87-74 to Cal (11/18/08) at Haas Pavilion and a 74-69 setback at USC (12/1/08). The Dons last triumph against a Pac-10 foe came in a 59-50 victory against the Golden Bears (12/2/97).
LOWHORN 16TH ON CAREER SCORING LIST: Junior forward Dior Lowhorn continues to charge up the USF career scoring lists and became the 30th USF player to surpass 1,000 career points in the Green and Gold with 22 points at Portland (1/15/09). Lowhorn enters Friday's game at Arizona State with 1,284 career points in 63 games for a 20.4 points per game average. The Bay Area product currently rates 16th on the Dons all-time scoring ladder. USF Hall-of-Famer Marlon Redmond (1973-77) scored 1,308 points and sits in 15th place.
USF DONS BASKETBALL ON GREEN 960 AM: USF men's basketball returns to the airwaves and cyberspace for the 2009-10 season and all games will be available live at USFDons.com, with the bulk of the schedule available on Green 960 AM. Join Pat Olson for the play-by-play in his 19th year behind the microphone courtside. USF Hall-of-Famer Jim Brovelli will join Olson on selected broadcasts.
