Reno, NV (November 21) -- Center Kenyon Jones scored a career high 37 points, 29 after halftime to pace USF to a 78-73 come from behind victory over Nevada Sunday afternoon in Reno. Jones, playing his first season at USF after three seasons at California totally dominated the second half, hitting 11 of 13 second half shots.

Jones, whose previous high at California was 15 points vs Mississippi on December 9, 1996 also pulled nine rebounds. Remarkably he earned those points in just 25 minutes. His 37 points was tied for the 15th best performance in USF history.

"Kenyon just took the team and carried it on his back," said Dons' Coach Phil Mathews. "They could not stop him inside and we just kept going to him. He also played well defensively, and pulled nine rebounds. We also played better defensively in the second half, holding Nevada to 32.3% shooting. Russell Hinder was also a warrior tonight."

Jones, the senior from Savannah, Georgia, was the only USF player in double figures. Russell Hinder added 9 points and James Lee added 8. Nevada, who beat Washington State by 25 points in its opener Friday, was paced by 17 points by Adrian McCullough and 14 by Terrence Green.

USF after playing their first two games away from home, opens a home stand next Sunday when they host UC Santa Barbara. That will be followed by home games against Lamar and the Northwestern Mutual Classic tournament. The Dons fell behind as Nevada was able to score early from outside the arc, hitting 4 of 5 early, which opened up the paint area.

The first half , which ended with a 40-29 Nevada halftime lead was similar to the first half at Maryland, as the Dons frontline struggled. Kenyon Jones again was in foul trouble and played just eight minutes before intermission, while freshman Darrell Tucker hit just one of seven shots from the floor. The Dons as a team, hit just 8 of 25 first half shots, while the homestanding Wolf Pack were 14 of 29 from the floor.
