Dons Fall to Pepperdine Despite 26 points By James Lee



SAN FRANCISCO (AP)(Jan. 26) - Brandon Armstrong had 22 points and seven rebounds as Pepperdine beat San Francisco 82-78 Jan. 26 to remain undefeated in the West Coast Conference.

Pepperdine (13-5, 5-0) has won six straight. David Lalazarian had 15 points and Derrick Anderson added 14.

San Francisco (7-13, 0-5) was led by James Lee, who had a career-high 26 points. Darrell Tucker had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Hondre Brewer had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Dons.

San Francisco, which has lost nine of their last 10 games, trailed by as many as 25 points in the second half but went on a 20-0 run to squeeze Pepperdine's margin to 56-51. Lee had 12 points during the run.

The Waves bounced back to take a 77-62 lead on a pair of free throws by Lalazarian, but the Dons again made a run, outscoring Pepperdine 15-4 to come to within 82-77 with 19 seconds left.

Lalazarian missed a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go and Lee was fouled just as time ran out. He hit one of his free throws for the final margin.

The Dons had a 4-0 lead to start the game, but Craig Lewis hit a pair of 3-pointers and a layup as the Waves took a 8-4 lead and never trailed again.

Tucker's 3-pointer with 12:04 to go pulled San Francisco to within 21-16. But Boomer Brazzle hit a 3-pointer with 10:30 to go, giving the Waves a 29-16 lead.

The Waves stretched their lead to as many as 15 points on Lalazarian's 3-pointer with 3:45 in the first half, and Pepperdine took a 43-29 advantage into halftime.
