San Francisco Men’s Golf Posts 10th Place Showing at 2012 Amer Ari Invitational
James Back 20th at Four-Under 212

(Waikoloa, HI) – San Francisco men's golf posted a10th place finish in the 22nd Annual Amer Ari at Waikoloa in its first event of the spring season. The Dons (+4) posted a one-shot victory over No. 2 Oregon and closed the event with a solid final round of one-under 287 on the King's Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort.
Junior Taylor Travis bounced back for a two-under 70 to pace the Dons Friday in paradise and carded a team-high seven birdies. Freshman Jobim Carlos and sophomore James Back each fired one-under 71s. Back carded his second eagle of the tournament with on the par-4 No. 1 after eagling the par-4 No. 17 on Thursday.
Back was the top finisher for the Dons at four-under 212 (71, 70, 71), good for a share of 20th place. Carlos was in a share of 39th place at even-par 216 (71, 74, 71).
San Francisco also posted wins against Bay Area rival San Jose State and UC Davis in a stacked field featuring no fewer than eight teams in the top-15 nationally. No. 1 Texas won the event at 30-under, good for a five-shot lead against No. 12 USC.
USF returns to action when it competes in the 2012 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate beginning Monday, February 25. The two-day event will be played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert.
