(Pebble Beach, CA) - USF men's golf enjoyed a strong day to open the 2008 Saint Mary's Invitational and enter Tuesday's final round in the tournament lead at 572 (293, 279) at the Poppy Hills Golf Course. The Dons, whose second round score of 279 is the lowest for the squad this season, leads Cal State Northridge by four strokes heading into the final 18 holes on the par-71 course playing at 6,639 yards.

Junior Domingo Jojola leads the field after firing a five-under 66 in second round play and with a 137 (71, 66) sits two strokes in front of Notre Dame's Doug Fortner who shot 139 (69, 70). Junior Chris Cunningham shares 11th place at 143 (75, 68) and roared back after a tough opening round. Senior Ed Han is in a logjam in a share of 20th place at 146 (72, 74), while freshman Ji Hwan Park finished day one tied for 29th at 147 (75, 72).

"This was a great day for us," USF head coach Dr. Gary Nelson said. "After the first round every player on the team was unhappy with their play and everybody improved in the second. Now it is up to each one of us to finish strong."

Jojola carded nine birdies in the round, good for second place among tournament leaders, while Cunningham added eight. As a team, San Francisco led the field with 34 birdies and set the standard on par-5 scoring (4.60).

Wisconsin sits in third place at 577 (296, 281) and Notre Dame (288, 291) and Texas Arlington (292, 287) share fourth place at 579.

San Francisco kicks off final round action, beginning at 7:30 AM at Poppy Hills.
