CINCINATTI, OHIO - USF senior Kenny Adams shot a 70 and finished seven-under par as the Xavier Invitational wrapped up play Tuesday. As a team, San Francisco finished ninth, meeting par with a combined score of 864.

With the addition of first and second round scores of three-under 69 and two-under 70, Adams ended the tournament tied for 12th-place with Marquette's Ted Gray. Entering the day with a 142, sophomore Chris Cunningham shot a 75 Tuesday to come home tied for 37th with a final score of 217.

Freshman EJ Kahn shot a one-under 71 in the final round to leap from 60th to 44th. Kahn had a three-day score of 219. Junior Kurt Nino (72-74-75) finished tied for 55th and sophomore Conor McElyea (74-73-76) tied for 67th.

"It was a pretty successful tournament for us against a strong field," USF head coach Dr. Gary Nelson said. "Kenny Adams led us and EJ Kahn turned in his first under-par tournament in just his second start as a collegiate player. We finished at par as a team and hopefully we can continue to improve as we head into our next event."

On the strength of a second round team score of 266, Marquette (295-266-280) won the team title. Western Carolina (286-282-275) and Campbell (278-287-278) tied for second with scores of 843.

Western Kentucky's Brent Long (68-67-68) was the individual winner with a score of 203.

San Francisco plays the MacKenzie Intercollegiates Tournament at Meadow Club October 8 - 9.
