USF Men's Golf Eighth After Two Rounds of Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

(South Bend, IN) – USF men’s golf shot a 595 on day one of the 2009 Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic Monday at the Warren Golf Course and enter Tuesday’s final round in eighth place. The Dons sit three shots away from cracking the top-five in the field of the challenging par-70 course playing at 7,023 yards.
Senior Chris Cunningham led the Dons at 6-over 146 (73, 73) and is tied for 11th place with 18 holes remaining. Sophomore Ji Hwan Park shares 17th place at 147 (74, 73), while senior Jesse Galvon is tied for 22nd at 148 (72, 76). Galvon shot the lowest round of the day for the Dons at 2-over in the morning loop. Notre Dame’s Josh Sandman leads the field at 2-under 138 (70, 68).
Tournament host Notre Dame leads the field on its home course at 578 (290, 288), a commaing12 shots in front of second-place Iowa at 590 (297, 293). Ohio State is third at 591 (288, 303). Missouri (295, 297) and No. 20 Arkansas (295, 299) share fourth place at 592. San Francisco shot 296 in round one and followed with a 299.
