(South Bend, IN) - USF men's golf struggled Monday in its opening round of the 2008 Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic at the Warren Golf Course on the campus of Notre Dame, but played better in the afternoon. The Dons enter Tuesday's final round tied for 10th place at 603. San Francisco shot 308 on the first 18 of the par-70 course playing at 7,023 yards. USF rebounded for a better score of 295 in the second round, vaulting four spots up the team leader board. Minnesota enters final round leading the field at 579, one stroke in front of Arkansas at 580. Michigan State and Virginia are tied for third place at 583, while Lamar University rounds out the top-five teams at 586. UC Davis is sixth at 587. San Francisco sits two shots behind West Coast Conference rival San Diego. The Toreros shot 601. Junior Domingo Jojola leads the way for USF in 24th place at 148 (74, 74), one shot in front of junior Chris Cunningham at 149 (76, 73). USF looks to make a push in Tuesday's final round.
