USF Men's Golf 14th After Day One of 2009 Alister MacKenzie Invitational

(Fairfax, CA) – USF men’s golf struggled in the opening day of the 2009 Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday at the Meadow Club. The Dons look to make a charge against a talent-laden field on a challenging par-71 course playing at 6,708 yards.
San Francisco shot a 576 (289, 287) on the first 36 holes. Tournament host Cal leads the event at 23-under 545 (278, 267) playing on its home course, five shots in front of runner-up No. 24 Oregon at 550 (267, 283). Colorado is third at 555 (280, 275), one shot in front of No. 2 Oregon State (277, 279). Fresno State rounds out the top-five at 557 (277, 279).
Sophomore Ji Hwan Park (69, 72) and senior Chris Cunningham shared the team lead with 18 holes remaining at 1-under 141, good for a share of 26th place. Park led the Dons with nine birdies, while Cunningham and seniors Domingo Jojola and Jesse Galvon each carded seven.
