USF Men's Golf Eighth After Opening Round at Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational

(Lihue, HI) - USF shot a 4-over 292 in the opening round of the 2009 Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational and sits in eighth place heading into Tuesday's second round at the Puakea Golf Course. The Dons sit just two shots out of the top-five and are three strokes away from jumping into the top three teams in the 10-team field competing on the par-72 course playing at 6,953 yards.
Senior Chris Cunningham leads the Dons in eighth place after firing a 3-under 69 in Monday's opening round, while sophomore Ji Hwan Park sits in a share of 19th place after carding and even-par 72. Senior Domingo Jojola shares the 25th spot at 2-over 74.
Defending champion San Diego leads the pack at 12-under 276, a whopping 10 shots in front of second place James Madison at 2-under 286. Tournament host Hawaii and Loyola Marymount share third place at 1-over 289, while Gonzaga and Sacramento State are tied for fifth at 2-over 290.
USF looks to make a move in round two action on Tuesday. The Dons will tee off at 9:00 AM (HT).
