USF Men's Golf Remains in Eighth Place at 2009 Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational

(Lihue, HI) - USF men's golf shot 296 in the second round of the 2009 Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at the Puakea Golf Course and remain in eighth place with 18 holes remaining. The Dons could not make a move after finishing the first 18 holes just four shots out of third place on the three-day event on the par-72 course playing at 6,953 yards.
Sophomore Ji Hwan Park moved up into a share of 12th place to pace the Dons, firing a 3-under 69 for a two round score of 141 (72, 69). Senior Chris Cunningham is in 22nd place at 144 (69, 74). San Diego's Ben Murray leads the pack at 10-under 134 (66, 68).
USD, the defending champions own a whopping 23 shot lead entering Wednesday's final round at 26-under 550 (274, 276). Tournament host Hawaii (289, 284) and James Madison (286, 287) sit well back in second at 3-under 573. Gonzaga sits in fourth place at 1-under 575 (290, 285), while Utah rounds out the top-five teams at even-par 576 (285, 291).
San Francisco will attempt to finish strong in final round action on Wednesday. The Dons will tee off the final 18 beginning at 8:00 AM (HT).
