USF Men's Golf in Sixth Place after Opening Round of 2008 Kauai Collegiate Invitational

(Kauai, HI) - USF men's golf shot a four-over 288 in the opening round of the 2008 Kauai Collegiate Invitational Monday at the Puakea Golf Course, good for sixth place with 36 holes remaining in the inaugural event. The Dons are five strokes out of first place on the par-71 course playing at 6,954 yards.

Junior Domingo Jojola leads San Francisco with a two-under 69, good for a share of fifth place. Seniors Kyle Prolo and Hawaii native Kurt Nino shot a one-over 72 for a share of 21st place.

Bay Area rival San Jose State leads with one round in the books with a one-under 283, one stroke in front of Drake at even par 284. Gonzaga shot a one-over 285 for fourth place, while James Madison and San Diego finished the first 18 holes at two-over 286 to round out the top-five teams.

USF tees off round two Tuesday at noon.
