USF Finishes Sixth at the 2008 Kauai Collegiate Invite

(Kauai, HI) - USF men's golf shot its lowest round of the tournament with an eight-under 280 in the final 18 holes of the 2008 Kauai Collegiate Invite, hosted by the University of Hawaii Wednesday at the Puakea Golf Course. The Dons finished sixth overall in their final event of the 2008 fall season, shooting an 853 (288, 285, 280). Junior Domingo Jojola was the top finisher for the Dons once again, placing sixth in the event with a 10-under 206 (69, 68, 69), five shots behind medalist Derek Wallace from UNC-Wilmington, who finished an impressive 15-under at 201 (67, 70, 64). Senior Hawaii native Kurt Nino placed in a logjam in 21st one-under 215 (72, 71, 72). Senior Kyle Prolo shared 24th place at 217 (72, 75, 70). West Coast Conference rival San Diego won the event at a remarkable 39-under at 825 (286, 267, 272) after a phenomenal second round. UNC-Wilmington finished a distant second at 840 (289, 280, 271), three shots of San Jose in third place at 843 (283, 282, 278). Drake finished fourth at 845 (284, 278, 283) while Utah rounded out the top-five at 852 (294, 275, 283), one shot in front of the Dons.
