The University of San Francisco men's golf team battled fierce wind for the second straight day but carded a second round 306 to move up to 14th place after 36 holes of the Hawaii Fall Intercollegiates being held at Honolulu's Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
USF faced rain on Tuesday in addition to the winds. However, the team fought hard, paced by Moses Kahalekulu who carded a 73 and finished with a 306 on the day.
"We were a little unlucky in the draw of the course," said coach Dr. Gary Nelson. "We finished both days on the holes nearest the ocean, where it was almost impossible to hit the fairway. The 13th hole alone cost us nine strokes Monday and 11 today.
"We have moved ahead of some teams that had beaten us earlier in the year, and we have a chance to pass some more tomorrow."
