USF Men's Golf Opens 2009 Spring Season at UH-Hilo Invitational

(San Francisco) - After turning in one of the best Fall seasons in program history, USF men's golf prepares to open the 2009 Spring season in paradise when it competes in the 2009 UH-Hilo Invitational beginning Wednesday, February 4 at the Mauna Lani North Course in Kamuela, Hawai`i. The 19th edition of the tournament will be played, Feb. 4-6, with 18 holes per day.
UH-Hilo will serve as host of the 17-team field which includes which features no fewer than seven teams ranked in the top-25 nationally, including defending tournament champion and No. 5 Stanford. The other competing schools are No. 8 Arizona State, No. 31 Florida State, Fresno State, No. 10 Georgia Tech, No. 20 Texas Christian, No. 16 Texas Tech, No. 32 UC Davis, No. 48 Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, San Francisco, No. 2 Southern California, and No. 11 Washington.

About the Course: The 18-hole "North" course at the Mauna Lani Resort Golf Course features 6,913 yards in length from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.2 with a slope rating of 136 on Bahia grass. Designed by Robin Nelson, ASGCA/Rodney Wright, ASGCA/Ray Kane, the North golf course opened in 1981.
