Tyler Kato Joins USF Men's Golf Program

(San Francisco) - Tyler Kato (Seattle, WA) from O'Dea High School is the latest addition to an outstanding 2010 recruiting class for the USF men's golf program as announced today by head coach Rich Yokota. Kato developed a solid competitive resume, earning a top-100 AJGA national ranking (72.17).
"Tyler is an amazing addition to our program," Yokota said. "We have followed him for two years, and we are convinced that he will add key qualities to our squad - mental toughness, extensive tournament experience and consistency. His success in school also points to his dedication and focus. We couldn't be happier to have Tyler joining the 2010 class next fall."
Kato's highlights include a victory in the 2009 Washington State Metro High School Championship and a runner-up finish on the AJGA National Junior Tour at the Randy Wise Junior Open in Michigan, where he closed with a 67 in the final round. Kato also represented Washington State on both the America's Cup and the Hogan Cup teams. A standout in the classroom, Kato earned a cumulative 3.3 GPA and has been awarded a variety of academic honors.
Kato will round out the freshman class which includes Alika Bell from Kaneohe, HI, James Back from Fullerton, and Dylan Smith from San Francisco.
