USF's EJ Kahn and Kenny Adams Advance to Match Play in 2009 California Amateur

(Daly City, CA) - Sophomore E.J. Kahn and former USF men's golf standout Kenny Adams both advanced to match play of the 2009 California State Amateur at the Lake Merced Golf Course. Adams, who competed for the Dons from 2007-08, tied Kahn for 12th place after 36 holes with each shooting a 1-under 143.
Kahn shot an even-par 72 and followed with a 1-under 71 Tuesday and carded four birdies, three coming on the back nine.
Adams opened with a 2-over 74, but rallied to make the cut with a 3-under 69 in round two, fueled by two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 14 hole playing at 496 yards.
Wednesday in match play, Kahn defeated Danville's Gregor Main 1-up and will take on No. 5 seed Jason Bittick of Long Beach with the winner advancing to Thursday's Quarterfinals. Bittick defeated Newport Beach's Bryan Harris 3 and 2. Adams fell in the round of 32 to Matt Grush of Los Angeles 4 and 2.
Kahn and Bittick square off Thursday and will tee off on No. 1 at 8:00 AM.
