Norman, OK -- USF men's golfer Kurt Nino (Honolulu, HI) capped a successful junior season with selection to the 2008 Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars team. The Dons leader in stroke average last season was one just of 96 student-athletes in Division I to qualify for the prestigious list. A Business/Finance major, Nino posted a 3.67 GPA and was selected to the 2008 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team. One of the Dons' top returning players, Nino competed in 11 tournaments for USF last season, highlighted by a 10th place finish at the Pinehurst International by Gatorade. Nino is one of three USF golfers to earn Academic All-America selection. Women's golf seniors Chaneng Joe and Jessica Potter earned NGCA All-American honors last week. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Divi¬sion I, 78.0 in Division II and 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
