(San Francisco) - The University of San Francisco men's golf program and the Olympic Club are proud to host the 2008 San Francisco Intercollegiate beginning Monday, September 8, 2008 on the Lake Course. A strong 14-team field will compete in the first collegiate golf tournament held at one of the nation's most prestigious courses since 1995. Site of four U.S. Opens (1955, 1966, 1987 and 1998), three U.S. Amateurs (1958, 1981 and 2007) and one U.S. Junior Amateur (2004) the Olympic Club is one of the premier courses in the country. Lake Course Details: Yardage of the Lake Course is 6,842 yards from the championship tees, with a course rating of 73.9 and a slope rating of 138. From the next set of tees forward, the course measures 6,529 yards, and has a course rating of 72.3 and a slope rating of 132. About the Olympic Club: Established in 1860 in San Francisco and dedicated to the pursuit of amateur athletic excellence, The Olympic Club enjoys the distinction of being America's oldest athletic Club. Comprised of more than 5,000 active members and with historic clubhouses located in downtown San Francisco and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Club members regularly participate in athletic and social events wearing the Club's internationally recognized 'Winged O'. Participating Teams: Alabama-Birmingham, California, Colorado, Hartford, Nevada, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Rice, Saint Mary's, San Diego, Santa Clara, USF, Wisconsin, Xavier Tournament Format: 54 Hole Tournament with 36 holes on Monday, September 8 (shotgun start) followed by the final round on Tuesday (shotgun start).
