Domingo Jojola Captures West Coast Conference Student-Athlete of the Month Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif., -- Now that the first full month of the 2008-09 season is in the books, the West Coast Conference has announced its Players of the Month for September. Portland's Danielle Foxhoven won the WCC's women's soccer Player of the Month honor, while Loyola Marymount's Patrick Sampson took home the men's award. Portland had a second athlete honored as Sifrash Ademe took home the honor for WCC women's cross country Player of the Month, while Saint Mary's Mario Mendoza took home the men's honor. In golf, Pepperdine's Jayvie Agojo won WCC women's golf Player of the Month, while San Francisco's Domingo Jojola received the men's award. Closing out this month's honors is Pepperdine, also with its second athlete honored, with Julie Rubenstein taking home the WCC women's volleyball Player of the Month.

Jojola becomes the first Don golfer to earn WCC Player of the Month honors since Rob Frye won the WCC Championship in 2004.

September Highlights:
The win at the 2008 Saint Mary's Tournament marks the third career tournament medalist honors for Domingo Jojola, who fired a final round 70 for a one stroke victory against UC Irvine's Bryan Harris, finishing at 207 (71, 66, 70). The redshirt junior shattered his career 54-hole tournament low of 212 which was good for his last tournament victory at the 2007 UC Irvine Anteater Invitational. His five-under 66 in round two shattered his prior career low round of 68 in round three of the 2006 Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate.

During the month of September, Jojola was three-under in nine competitive rounds with five rounds at par or better.
