Carson City, NV (Oct. 12) - The University of San Francisco shot a final round 286 to jump three places and finish eighth at the Wolf Pack Classic in Carson City, Nev. It was a solid performance by the Dons, who got a one under par 70 from Matt Larsen, an even par 71 from Chad Thompson, a +1 72 from Fernando Gomez and a +2 73 from Tyler Pitt. USF shot 881 for the 54 hole event.

Fresno State shot a team total of three over par to capture the 23rd Annual Wolf Pack Classic Tuesday as its top four golfers, led by Danny Paniccia and Josh Watney at one over par each, all finished in the top nine in the tournament.

Individually, Portland's Ryan Nelson won the tournament in a four-hole sudden death playoff as he birdied to beat Utah's Shawn Edwards.

The tournament was played on the brand new (opened last June) Silver Oaks Golf Course in Carson City, NV.

Portland finished second, six strokes behind Fresno. Long Beach State was third (+14) followed by Nevada (+18) and a fifth place tie between Washington State and Boise State, a team that held the second round lead but faded on Tuesday.
