USF Golf Finishes 10th in Real Del Mar Classic
Baja, Mexico -- The USF men's golf team shot 296 and 310 in the final two 18-hole rounds to rally to a tenth place finish in the first annual Real Del Mar Classic at the Real Del Mar Country Club in Baja California Tuesday. USF had to recover from a first round 321 on Monday that placed the Dons dead last. USF's second round 296 was the third best round of the second 18 holes and pushed the Dons back into contention. USF was paced by Tyler Pitt who finished tied for 17th among finishers. Pitt shot 76-78-71 for a 54 hole total of 225, 12 strokes behing medalist Scott Piercy (213) of host San Diego State. Chad Thompson followed with a 230 (T28) with Fernando Gomez (236), Matt Larson (239) and Ryan Wilson (249) completing the Dons' scoring. Host San Diego State won the event behind Piercy and 2nd place Lars Johansson with a 54-hole total of 874, 16 strokes better than second place San Diego (890).
